Two Academic Scholarships Awarded
The National Association of Purchasing Management Quad Cities (NAPM-QC), the local affiliate of the international organization of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), is awarding two academic scholarships.  The inaugural award of The Robert F. Evers NAPM-QC Scholarships will be officially presented Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at the group’s regular business dinner meeting at the Stoney Creek Inn in Moline.

This year, NAPM-QC is broadening its educational scope by awarding a scholarship of $500 to an undergraduate student and a $1000 scholarship to graduate student.  The scholarship is named in memory of Robert F. Evers, who passed away in November, 2008  Evers worked in the field of Supply Management for 40 years and was a longtime ISM member. Evers was dedicated to what he called “the art and science of supply management.”  As a professional, Evers encouraged the people with whom he worked to become involved with ISM and to seek its professional certification.  Evers earned his MBA in 1997 from St. Ambrose, held the certification of Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) from ISM and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) from APICS.

Scholarship applicants were required to: complete an application, submit an essay, their resume, and a copy of their transcripts which were reviewed by a panel of NAPM-QC leaders.  The graduate student scholarship is being awarded to Ms. Katelyn Gall of Davenport, IA.  Gall graduated from St. Ambrose University in May, 2008 with a degree in Economics and Finance.  Since then, Gall has been working as an Associate Buyer for Trinity Logistics Corporation headquarter in Davenport, IA. She is currently working toward her MBA at St. Ambrose University. The undergraduate student is Chad Rosenow of Mineral, IL.  Rosenow is pursuing his major of Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration while minoring in Supply Chain Management at Western Illinois University.  Rosenow is a non-traditional student in his senior year.  Scholarships will be awarded on behalf of NAPM-QC members by  President Brian C. Moncrief, C.P.M., CPIM, CPSM.

ISM is dedicated to the advancement of the profession of supply chain management.  From September through May of each year, the NAPM-QC invites academics and professionals in the world of supply chain management to educate its members.  The group’s schedule is published on its website, http://www.ismqc.org/.  Along with presentations lead by renown experts, dinner is served after a half hour of networking time.  Admission is $35.00 for non-members, $25.00 for members. and $15.00 for students.  All are welcome to attend.  Registration is required through its website.
